Half the listed price is placed ahead to confirm a booking, a first booking among them, and a cancellation does not bring it back. One session waits for the door: a same-day hour or two from a client the house has looked after before.
A booking is accepted in a single message, and from that message onward the house is at work. Someone confirms the therapist and the hour. Her time is closed to anyone else. Requests that arrive for the same window are declined on her behalf. For a night, or for a visit that has to be arranged around a journey out to the airport, transport is fixed days ahead. None of this is visible from the client's side, and all of it is real. It is carried out before anyone has met.
For one booking, and for one only, that work fits inside a single evening and is settled entirely when she arrives: a session of one hour or two, requested for today, by a client the house has looked after before. It is confirmed within about ten minutes; she reaches any address in central Amsterdam in forty minutes to an hour; and the full price shown on the price page is handed to her at the door. That is the exception, and it should be read as one. Every other booking, and the first booking from any name new to the office among them, is confirmed with half the price placed ahead.
The deposit is priced as the cost of the work described above. It is not a penalty. By the time a client cancels, the declined requests have found other houses, the closed hours cannot be reopened at short range, and the coordinating has already been done. The deposit is the measure of what was spent between acceptance and cancellation, and that is why it is not given back.
A deposit is always half of the listed price. It is fixed at that, not a range and not open to discussion, and it is asked for these bookings:

Four sums show the measure of it. A first hour with the house is EUR 180 on the ladder, so EUR 90 is placed now and EUR 90 is handed to her at the door. Three hours reserved for a date next week is EUR 540, so EUR 270 is placed now and EUR 270 waits for her arrival. Two therapists across two hours come to EUR 720, of which EUR 360 is placed ahead and EUR 360 is paid on the day. An overnight is EUR 1,250; EUR 625 secures the night and EUR 625 is settled at the door. Inside the ring the house carries no supplement of any kind, whether for the night, the weekend or the journey, so half of the ladder figure is all that is ever asked ahead, and you will see the exact figure in the confirmation message before you send anything.
A deposit travels as a card payment, as a Revolut or Wise transfer, or as cryptocurrency: the methods that settle electronically in advance. Neither a bank transfer nor PayPal can carry it. Cash belongs to the balance and cannot serve as a deposit, because a deposit is placed while she is still at rest, before any journey has begun. The details for payment are given in the confirmed WhatsApp thread alone, and only after the office has accepted; no earlier message carries them, and no one but the office sends them. The balance itself follows the ordinary path and is paid to her on arrival: cash in a major currency of your choosing, exchanged at the rate of that day, or card, or crypto. The rule is held still. Once placed, a deposit is not given back on a client cancellation. There is no scale of refunds for notice given, no window in which a cancellation is free, no share returned for a week's warning and none for a day's notice. That cost was incurred at acceptance, and a message sent afterwards does not travel back to undo it.
A booking that moves is easier for the office to hold than one that is dropped. If the hour has to change, say so before she has set out, and the office will tell you what can be arranged. A move is a change rather than a cancellation, and a calmer conversation.
Two circumstances are treated apart. Should the government prohibit the house from operating, or should a serious illness mean the session cannot take place, the office may accept the booking as force majeure. Each case is weighed separately. Where it is accepted, the deposit is kept as credit for a later booking; it is never converted into cash. A diary that shifted, a meeting that overran, a cold, a changed flight, a different hotel or a change of mind do not qualify. Each of these is a plain cancellation, and the deposit remains where it was placed.
Now and then the office takes a booking without a deposit: the same-day hour or two of a returning client whose earlier bookings were kept, or a request for today with the therapist already on the road. Being trusted means the sum is collected later; it does not mean the sum is forgiven. If such a booking is cancelled, the same costs have been committed, and the office requests a cancellation sum matching what the deposit would have come to. It is one policy, whichever side of the session it is collected on.
When a session is brought to a close early by the client, the full reserved length is paid. The hour was held for you, she travelled to reach you, and the minutes left unused cannot be given to anyone else that day. Nothing of the price is returned, neither a part of it nor the whole.
A therapist may end a session at that moment, and without refund, if her safety or her consent is compromised. It is written once, and it is not qualified.
A reservation under an invented name, or with contact details that are somebody else's, or made as a prank, or abandoned by someone who never intended to be there when she arrived, is not a cancellation. The house files it as a false booking. The record is retained; the identifiers are passed to the other reputable houses working in Amsterdam, so their therapists can recognise them in turn; and the matter is referred to the authorities when that is the right course.
An honest client does not feel any of this. Give your own name, be at the door at the hour agreed, and there is nothing to record. The rule exists for forty-five women who travel alone, at every hour of the day and night, to addresses they have not seen, and it exists for their sake alone.
A period of reflection needs a purchase that can wait for it. That is the thought behind the fourteen days Dutch consumer law ordinarily allows a consumer buying a service without meeting the seller, by message or online: the Wet Koop op Afstand, the Dutch implementation of the EU Consumer Rights Directive, gives that consumer fourteen days to withdraw. A booking sent to the WhatsApp thread is a distance sale in that sense, and a client is right to ask whether the fourteen days apply.
A booking for one hour of one day cannot wait. The date is the substance of what is bought, and once it has passed there is nothing left to withdraw from. The Dutch Civil Code recognises this at Article 6:230p, in the date-specific-service exemption, which places outside the withdrawal right any service the provider will carry out on a date already fixed, or within a period already fixed. Every booking with this house is of that kind. The fourteen-day right is therefore not something a client gives up at confirmation; for a service with a date on it, the right does not arise.
