Amsterdam-West grew outward from the edge of the seventeenth-century city in the decades around 1900, first in the dense blocks of Oud-West just past the Singelgracht, then in the more spacious interwar neighbourhoods beyond, where the streets widen, the courtyards grow larger and the architecture turns to the rounded brick style the city adopted in the 1920s. Farther out, Bos en Lommer and the streets around the Rembrandtpark belong to a generation of planners who wanted light, air and green space for everyone.
The result is a district with very few grand hotels and a great many rented apartments, which suits a certain kind of visitor: someone who would rather buy bread from the bakery on the corner than eat breakfast in a hotel dining room. Evenings are sociable along the main shopping streets and almost silent a block away from them, and a session in a flat on one of those quieter side streets has all the privacy of a hotel with none of its corridors.
The quarter itself
Almost every address in West is reached the same way: a street door, a buzzer panel and a stairwell, often steep, leading to an apartment that runs the depth of the building. The rooms are rarely large, but they are usually warm, well lived in and pleasantly quiet at the back, where the bedroom tends to face a garden or courtyard rather than the street. If the bedroom faces the tram line instead, close the windows and let a little instrumental music fill the space, since the rattle of a passing tram intrudes less under a soft sound than under silence.
Many apartments in these streets are let to visitors on short stays, and hosts sometimes leave the heating on a timer or set low to save energy. Work out how the thermostat behaves when you arrive rather than an hour before the booking, because a flat that has sat cool all day needs time. Several of our therapists live in the neighbouring Jordaan and in Oud-Zuid, a short ride away, so she often arrives by bicycle, lock in hand and bag over her shoulder, looking like anyone else returning to the building.
How the session comes to you
West is where we see the widest mix of bookings. Weeknight sessions are often ninety minutes of tantra for someone who has spent the day working from a kitchen table, and weekend afternoons bring longer requests, two hours or three, from visitors who have planned an unhurried day around a late lunch and a quiet evening in. Lingam and yoni massage follow for guests who stay long enough to book a second time. Remote workers renting for a month sometimes mark the end of each working week with a late-afternoon session, the laptop shut and the kitchen table cleared before the therapist rings.
Couples renting together here more often choose one therapist attending to each partner in turn, simply because the typical apartment bedroom holds one working surface comfortably rather than two. Where there is a proper living room, two therapists side by side becomes possible, and it is worth describing the space when you write. The sensual session, an even-paced hour, is popular on evenings when friends are expected later, since it leaves the body warm and loose rather than too deeply settled to open the door to company.

Timing, payment, the practical part
A WhatsApp message brings a named therapist, a time and a total within about ten minutes. Oud-West is close enough to the centre that arrival generally falls within twenty to thirty minutes, while De Baarsjes and Bos en Lommer, a little farther out, tend toward the upper end of that range; the confirmation always names the actual arrival window, and the distance costs nothing extra.
The ladder is the one used across the whole city: €180 for an hour, €270 for ninety minutes, €360 for two hours, €540 for three, €360 an hour for two therapists and €1,250 for an eight-hour overnight. Payment is made at the door in cash of any major currency, by card or in crypto, never beforehand. Clients must be twenty-one or older, and Schiphol hotels, a short drive west, can be arranged by request.
