The park takes its name simply from its position west of the old city, and for much of the twentieth century its most prominent neighbour was the municipal gasworks that supplied Amsterdam with light and heat. When the works closed, the land was cleaned, replanted and joined to the older park, and today its long lawns, reed-edged ponds and restored industrial buildings form one of the city's most loved open spaces. Around it lie the Spaarndammerbuurt with its sculpted brick housing from the 1920s, the Staatsliedenbuurt with its steady residential streets, and to the north the former timber harbour, rebuilt as waterfront apartments.
Visitors here rent flats rather than rooms, as a rule, and the neighbourhood rewards them with an Amsterdam that goes to bed at a reasonable hour. Runners and dog walkers fill the park paths at dusk and then, quite suddenly, the whole area becomes still. A session begun at nine in the evening has the entire quiet of the western city around it.
The quarter itself
The celebrated brick housing blocks of the Spaarndammerbuurt were built with inner courtyards, curved corners and small windows set deep in thick walls, and the apartments inside them hold warmth and silence better than most of the city. They can also be compact, with bedrooms barely larger than the bed itself, so clearing a stretch of floor along one side matters. In the Staatsliedenbuurt the flats are more conventional, with stairwells and buzzers, and in the new buildings of the Houthavens there are lifts, lobbies and entry codes to pass on when you book.
Wherever you are staying, the park itself shapes the preparation. Rooms that face it are dark and peaceful at night but can admit the first birdsong very early in summer, so draw the curtains fully before a late or overnight session. In winter the wind comes in across the open ground and finds every gap in an old window frame, so turn the heating up in good time. The therapist arrives with oil, towels and linen in one plain bag, and she can come by bicycle along the park paths as easily as by car.
How the session comes to you
Two patterns dominate the bookings we receive from around the park. The first is the early evening session, beginning between seven and nine, booked by guests who have spent a long afternoon walking the park or the western canals and want an evening in rather than another table in town. Ninety minutes of tantra is the usual choice, and for anyone new to the discipline it is the length we recommend. The second is the unhurried weekend session, two hours or more, sometimes a lingam or yoni massage for a guest who already knows how slow the approach can be.
Couples in the Houthavens apartments, where the living spaces are generous, can comfortably book two therapists side by side. In the smaller courtyard flats, one therapist taking each partner in turn is the gentler fit. The sensual hour suits evenings that still hold a plan, perhaps a film or a late drink somewhere near the park, and the eight-hour overnight appeals to guests in the waterfront flats who want the stillness of the neighbourhood to carry on until morning.

Timing, payment, the practical part
Messages on WhatsApp are answered within about ten minutes with the therapist's name, the time she will arrive and the total. Westerpark lies directly beside the Jordaan, where a good share of the roster lives, so arrival is usually well inside the twenty to thirty minutes quoted for the centre, and the Houthavens, slightly farther north, may add a few minutes. Nothing is charged for the distance.
One hour costs €180, ninety minutes €270, two hours €360 and three hours €540, while two therapists together are €360 an hour and an eight-hour overnight is €1,250, at any hour of any day. Payment is taken at the door in cash of any major currency, by card or in crypto. All clients must be twenty-one or older, and sessions at hotels near Schiphol can be arranged ahead of time for travellers moving on.
